ScottMadden, Inc. partner and senior vice president, Samuel Poston, has announced his retirement. Mr. Poston has been a part of the ScottMadden team since 1991 and is internationally recognized as an expert in bringing about organizational transformation.

During his tenure at ScottMadden, Mr. Poston specialized in linking internal shared services delivery systems to corporate strategies and goals. Over the past several years, he has also been the leader of the firm’s corporate and shared services practice. Mr. Poston will remain actively engaged in the firm, overseeing the Raleigh office, remaining advisor to Directors on business development, and participating in recruiting and new employee orientation.

"For almost 22 years, I’ve had the privilege of working at ScottMadden, and I cannot imagine having had a more meaningful and fulfilling experience anywhere else," said Mr. Poston. "I am humbled to have been one of its leaders, and as I leave full-time work, I am gratified the firm is in the strong hands of Brad Kitchens, our president, and the entire ScottMadden team." When asked how he will spend his retirement hours, Mr. Poston replied, "I will continue my church leadership responsibilities as President of Church Council, spend more time with my wife, children, and grandchildren, and take full advantage of my lake house."

Brad Kitchens, president and CEO of ScottMadden, said, "Sam has been a close friend and colleague since my arrival at ScottMadden more than 20 years ago. You cannot replace somebody like Sam—you continue to build on his successes and that’s what we’ll do. We wish him all the best in his retirement. He’s earned it."

Sam Poston has been involved with SSON's annual flagship event, Shared Services & Outsourcing Week (North America) since its launch 17 years ago, and is familiar to everyone as its charismatic chairman of a decade plus. As chairman, Sam has been an invaluable support, providing his expertise in guiding content and by keeping things running smoothly on site. (Sam will be chairing our 17th annual SSOW, in Orlando, starting March 4 - click here).

Sarah Clayton, global head of SSON, comments: "Working with ScottMadden over the last decade-plus has been an important anchor for Shared Services & Outsourcing Week. Led by Sam Poston, a pioneer in shared services consulting, we've watched as the firm has cut a swathe through the North American market, producing stellar examples of best practice captive centers. A handful of ScottMadden's clients have repetitively and easily won SSOW Awards every year. Sam is hands down the most genial, personable, and wise executive SSON has had the pleasure of working with in the USA – and we work with quite a few! He is the face of SSOW North America and has been a clever mentor to us us for many years. We've counted ourselves very lucky."

Naomi Secor, conference producer of Shared Services & Outsourcing Week, adds: "Sam's level of expertise, motivation and enthusiasm for Shared Services knows no boundaries. It was an absolute pleasure working with him over the years on several Shared Service events, which he chaired and played an instrumental role in developing."

Previous to joining ScottMadden, Mr. Poston was manager of human resources for GE Plastics. He earned a B.S. in psychology/social work from Ball State University and an M.S.W. from the University of Michigan. He is a graduate of the advanced program in organizational development and human resource management, a joint program of Columbia University and the University of Michigan.
