William A.

William A. Eaton is Assistant Secretary of State for Administration. Since joining the Department of State in 1979, he has served overseas as administrative counselor in Ankara, Turkey, administrative officer in Milan, Italy, administrative officer in Istanbul, Turkey, general services officer in Moscow, U.S.S.R., and political and consular officer in Georgetown, Guyana. In Washington, he has served as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Management (2001), Executive Director of the Bureau of European Affairs (1998- 2000), Coordinator in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State for the establishment of science centers in Moscow and Kiev for former Soviet weapons scientists (1992- 94), Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of State for Management (1986-87), and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security (1985-86) and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Administration (1984).
