Optimized Data Centers?

I can never resist reading about "big data" nor can I pass up a really good infographic. I came across both rolled into one this morning.

The headline is that data optimization centers are becoming more important across a wide range of industries. It's something most of us in shared services/sourcing have come to expect, right?

Encouragingly, half of business technology leaders are reporting that they already have a data optimization initiative in place; and all the rest say they are in the planning stages. This trend is being driven mainly by operational efficiency and business continuity, but what's emerging is that a significant driver is to reduce downtime – a hugely expensive problem. Over 50% of respondents in a recent survey, for example, cited unplanned system downtime or outages over the past year. You can just hear the dollars racking up in terms of cost to the business.

On the plus side, data optimization also makes it easier to get high performance analytics out of the system. In fact, 82% of those asked believe they have an excellent, very good, or good chance of deploying analytics applications, and 85% believe they are significantly reducing downtime in the future.

Get the Infographic here – and push forward with those data optimization plans.
