Why is it that we tend to embrace the extremes in coming up with solutions to complex problems and forget about all of the variations of space in between the extremes? It’s because this method requires less study and thinking to do so, and studying and thinking is very hard work, claims Kevin Hegarty, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the University of Michigan.

Kevin is responsible for the general supervision of all finances, property and business of the University of Michigan. His CFO organization is made up of 2,550 staff responsible for architecture, construction, operations and maintenance of facilities, parking and transportation; occupational safety and environmental health; utilities; human resources; financial operations; and more than 10 billion in financial investments.
