People communicate most naturally by exchanging "unstructured" information – talking, body signals, or written memos. In a professional environment, business applications and databases are thrown into the mix. Traditionally, this required information to be "structured" in forms, tables etc, and necessitated manual intervention. But what if business systems were able to analyze and process even partially structured information?
Content classification algorithms bring automated environments a step closer towards human-like understanding of partially structured information. "Classification" corresponds to the human cognitive process of "concept formation," whereby common objects are sorted into classes.
This paper provides an overview of the classification and categorization technology introduced in Kofax Transformation Modules.
