Dan Melchior is the inaugural Director – Shared Services at San Diego State University and the first one in California State University’s twenty-two campus system. A first-generation Shared Services leader, he has thirty years’ experience designing, building, implementing, and optimizing Shared Services and Global Business Services Centers. Dan has worked for Southern Wine & Spirits, Best Buy, Luxottica, Universal Music Group and McCormick & Company, all in a Shared Services capacity as well as advising hundreds of Fortune 500 clients. He is the author of Shared Services – A Manager’s Journey (2007, John Wiley & Sons) and the true crime memoir, The Silk Finisher: Bigotry, Murder, and Sacrifice in the Crossroads of America (2024, Post Hill Press)
