As World Cup openings go, Brazil’s match against Croatia looked like it might be a humiliation for the hosts. The very first goal of the competition – an own goal by Brazil – might have undone a weaker team. But talent and a bit of Brazilian magic soon equaled the score – and set them ahead 3:1 by the end.
