10:10 AM PANEL DISCUSSION: ADDRESSING THE TALENT GAP BY BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN BUSINESS & ACADEMIA

In the past decade, digital native businesses have disrupted how corporations interact with their customers, partners, and employees. Data-intensive enterprises have harnessed the benefits of growing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities in their business processes for strategic and competitive advantage. Even traditional businesses have implemented ways to reinvent themselves to remain relevant and competitive by utilizing the power of AI/ML. This unprecedented rise of AI brings a new era of business transformation whereby business processes are enhanced and fueled through AI. Intelligent Automation (IA) technologies integrating automation technologies (like RPA) with AI capabilities have become strategic tools for businesses to achieve higher speed, accuracy, and compliance, becoming a critical part of the digital transformation strategy for businesses.

Yet, one of the top barriers to scaling intelligent automation programs and achieving digital transformation goals is the scarcity of qualified talent. Unfortunately, IA talent is not only hard to find but also takes time and effort to develop, and it’s even harder to retain them. A qualified IA talent requires significant technical expertise in emerging technologies and business acumen to understand complex business workflows and transform business problems into effective IA solutions. Additionally, they are expected to be a change agent to be able to champion the change empathetically. To address such unique challenges, business and academia must partner. This talk will address the unique collaboration between business and academia.
