3:35 PM Panel | One Size Does Not Fit All: Rethinking Change Management for High and Low-Agency Organizations

Organizations don’t experience change the same way, but most change programs are still designed as if they do. Some organizations operate with high agency: teams move quickly, take ownership, and adapt fast. Others are low agency: decisions are centralized, risk tolerance is lower, and change requires heavier structure and reinforcement. Join this session to challenge the assumption that there is a single “right” way to lead transformation. Leaders will explore how to assess their organization’s true appetite for change and how to adapt change management strategies accordingly—especially in environments already strained by transformation fatigue.

  • How to distinguish between high-agency and low-agency organizational environments
  • Why traditional change approaches fail when agency is misdiagnosed
  • How change leadership, communication, governance, and incentives differ across settings
  • What transformation fatigue looks like in high-change vs. constrained organizations
  • Real examples of how leaders are sustaining momentum, or course-correcting, across different change environments
