Within the shared services industry there are three main issues at stake.
- How best to recruit new talent and engage with the next generation
- How to retain that talent, and
- How to upskill staff as a more digital and automated environment becomes apparent.
The shared services industry is not alone in facing these hurdles – but it needs to face them now.
The challenge is that the perception of the shared services industry isn’t a hugely positive one amongst the younger generation who view it as a processing factory. They want more strategic rather than operational roles.
It’s up to the industry to change this perception and appear more attractive to a changing workforce.
