Joya Carmichael is the Chief Administrative Officer at the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), where she helped build the organization’s operations from the ground up following the passage of the Music Modernization Act. She oversees and implements key processes that drive The MLC’s success in serving songwriters and publishers. With more than 20 years of experience at global brands including Nike, Whirlpool, and Medtronic, Joya excels at developing scalable systems and high-performing teams. Under her leadership, The MLC has distributed more than $3 billion in royalties. She holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in International Business.
