Marco A. Ortiz is an international operations leader with more than 35 years of experience in Information Technology (IT), Manufacturing, Strategic Planning and Global Business Services (GBS). He currently serves as the 3M Global Service Center (GSC) Digital Transformation director, leading the digital aspects of the operations and the Process Excellence for the GSC organization. His team is responsible for the areas of Process Quality, Process Performance and Digital Transformation for the three Service Centers locations in Poland, Costa Rica, and Philippines with more than 5000 employees providing +220 services for more than 25 different processes, with operations in +100 subsidiaries, in more than 17 languages. Early in his career, Marco worked for software development firms, banking and manufacturing companies in his home country (Costa Rica). He joined 3M in 1997 as IT manager for Central America region and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota as PMO and country project lead for software deployment within the IT International Operations organization in 2001. Since then, he has been having increasing international responsibilities as Division IT manager (for 3 different Business Divisions), Business Transformation (ERP Deployment) IT manager for the US and Europe and IT area manager for Latin America before his current assignment with the GSC organization. Marco holds an MBA from the INCAE Business School in Costa Rica, with an emphasis on Operations, and B.S. in Computer Science (Informatica) from the Universidad de Costa Rica. He is a Latino community leader; actively involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives at 3M and in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. He is member of the board of directors of CLUES (-Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio- Advancing social and economic equity and wellbeing for Latinos), member of the board of directors at WellShare International (Advancing health equity through community defined solutions that are effective and affordable) and was the president of the 3M Latino Resource Network in 2010, 2011 and 2020.
