Project management in certain Cargotec Shared Services future operational capability creation activities. What is it that attracts you to the online learning forum? How does this compare to other training sessions you've taken part in? It allows you certain flexibility compared to other forums. The decision to use this forum at this time was made by our training specialist, and I think it is good for this topic. What is your Skill Set? Vendor, service and outsourcing management in large corporations, especially regarding information management services, legal issues e.g. contract negotiations. In which of the 10 core SSOPro competency areas do you feel you have experience/expertise to share? Contracting & Negotiating In which of the 10 core SSOPro competency areas do you have most to learn? Talent Management What do you hope to gain from this course that will have the greatest impact on your current job? Deepen my understanding and to gain use of same terminology as my current colleagues. In a word: I expect to gain a good framework with respect to the topic. What has been your favourite job/role to date? Why? All my jobs have been interesting. I am very happy with my current role, since it offers me new challenges to learn and to do things in a different scale, and with a global perspective. Who has been your best boss/mentor to date? Why? Several bosses of mine have been good in different ways. My best mentor was an old, nearly retired, CIO I used to work for. He had lot of wisdom to share. The best operative boss in my mind is my current boss, since she is focused, a clear communicator, and has faith in me. Who do you look up to in business (general) and why? My uncle has had a great career in global industry. He is my role model in many ways. Generally I look up to people in business who have succeeded because of their ambition and their ability to follow that through hard work, yet who do not jeopardize the well-being of others, and who respect individuals regardless of different opinions. What is an unusual hobby or interest? Not very unusual hobbies: golf, sports, sailing, hunting, music and studying the law. What has been your greatest achievement? Stabile family life combined with my current career and ongoing other activities in my life. What is your greatest regret? To have started studying the law in university so late. I could have picked that up earlier. Learning new, even enormous and demanding concepts is always rewarding. Which management books/magazines/newspapers do you read? I follow mainly local, economy-related newspapers. Financial Times every now and then, as well. Who are your favourite writers? So many good ones. The first to come to my mind is A. A. Milne. I just love Winnie-the-Pooh’s wisdom. To be honest, nowadays I mostly read legal commentary books due to my law school project. What is your favourite 10-minute meal that you cook? Tuna salad OR fried bacon and eggs. What is your favourite TV show? South Park. What is your "song" of the moment? "Welcome Home, Son" by Radical Face (from the Nikon camera commercial). Where do you live and how far do you commute to work? What keeps you here? In the centre of Turku in Finland, some miles away from the office.
