What are some of the unifying factors in the recruitment process across different geographical regions?

While in the majority of cases, the recruitment process looks the same – a short market in terms of talent – there are some differences from region to region, Charlie says. “There are regions that are slower to adapt to the ongoing hybrid setup, which is a topic that's very consistent. Right now, everybody's trying to cope with the requirement for digitalization and ensuring that their organizations are hybrid-friendly in terms of what the talent is looking for. The reason for that slower adaptation to hybrid in some regions is because the employer hasn't really figured out what their work strategy is. Because it is dependent on the leaders going to the region, and the market itself, so that the wider organization has a better idea of the specifics on the ground, and figures out what is the right combination for the hub and spoke model.

And other than hybrids, COVID-19 has impacted the majority of us in terms of mental wellness. That's a topic that's very important for GBS organizations to focus on.”

What are GBS organizations most commonly looking for when outsourcing? Different Delivery Models

The Outsourcing Model: Labor cost arbitrage is the main component of this strategy. It entails you entering into a contract with an outside organization that specializes in the work you need completed. 

The Shared Services Centers/Organizations (SSC/SSO) Model: By retaining internal, and centralizing primarily back-office tasks, this paradigm decreases complexity. Global or local shared services centers can be established, and they can either be centralized or decentralized.

The Global Business Services (GBS) Model: The GBS approach provides the internal team and the involved external stakeholders with best-in-class service. It is a new paradigm created from the evolution of shared services and business process outsourcing together.
