Through his work at Telefonica/02, Wayne is improving the performance and outcome of millions of interactions â not just in the "back-office" but also by delivering a vastly improved service to Telefonicaâs customers. In this introduction to robotics session [free online through www.ssonopenhouse.com], he's going to be starting at the basics, right from: "Why would I choose an RPA driven solution over an IT implementation?" to "what's the real rate of return of RPA compared to an IT driven implementation in the back end?"

For the many of you who know that you ought to be paying attention to robotic process automation but it just hasn't really figured on your agenda yet â this is a session you should not miss.

Wayne will be sharing tips on how to get IT to buy into a "non-roadmap" solution and how to overcome the initial reluctance to "screen scraping" technology (the tables soon turned as the potential for enterprise "intelligence" emerged) as well as how to push even further through self-service.

The lightbulb moment, as he puts it, really happens when you understand the power of RPA within context.

One of the interesting shifts Wayne pointed out was that, in the past, if 95% of a process was already automated it might have cost the same amount again to automate the last 5%. That is no longer the case, thanks to robotic automation.

What's really interesting though, is that in some instances that final 5% is so repetitive that Wayne's team has opted for self-service instead of RPA, as an even more effective and less expensive option. The point he makes throughout his session is that it's possible to use robotics alongside self-service throughout the end-to-end process to ultimately arrive at a place where there is no need to ever touch the back office .
