For the last 25+ years, Russ has been actively guiding IT executives and senior management in transformational change and execution of key IT initiatives. Largely industry agnostic, he most frequently drives value at “The Edge” of IT and has concentrated most of his energies in health care, financial services, telecommunications, and high visibility areas within the public sector.
His professional accomplishments within health care include IT leadership at a national renal pharmacy, initially by developing their IT strategy, transitioning to acting Chief Information Officer.  Within national disease management firms he has served in vice president roles in charge of clinical applications and assisted in the rewiring of organizational clinical and operating models and supporting technology platforms.  
Within financial services he has assisted one of the largest domestic insurance firms drive to a prominent position within life insurance sales to accompany their market lead in all other lines.  He has established an IT organizational governance models as well as assisting in aligning products, distribution, and markets to drive corporate strategy for a mutual fund firm. He has also leading numerous IT assessments within the mortgage industry preparing organizations for regulatory audits.
Within telecommunications, a Fortune 50 firm had Russ drove the creation of “Black Rocket” ASP line of business from the assets of global dark fiber and national asset data centers.  In this role, he was responsible for leading the business strategy, developing partner relationships, and integrating with the technology development teams.   
In his public sector work, he has led the turnaround of the IT Department at Los Angeles World Airports (LAX) through organizational structure design, operational scope of control changes, internal and external alliances to be established, and clarifying operational control. Prior to this, he had custom developed much of the Los Angeles County justice system, leading the efforts for probation, own recognizance, and defense management areas.
Russ has earned his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Regina in Canada.  He is a published author and actively blogs on IT leadership, leaders, and the consultants that serve them.
