The global health crisis of 2020 upended the normal operational practices for shared services organizations—challenging the long held “orthodoxies” and forcing many to pivot to a new way of working---not only to survive during the pandemic but thrive in the post–COVID-19 world. According to SSON Analytics, only 10 percent of shared services leaders felt they were fully prepared to lead remote teams. The global pandemic quickly forced SSOs to pivot to a remote way of working. With a virtual workplace being the new normal and a preference for employees, effectively managing a remote team comes with its challenges. In this session, we will discuss:


  • How to provide effective coaching when your team is remote?
  • How to develop your staff when you are unable to have a face-to-face interaction?
  • How to effectively manage personnel issues remotely?
  • How to maintain the culture when your team is no longer in the office?
