of consulting experience. Kim has
delivered a wide range of consulting engagements including assignments covering
business and operational strategy, financial management and control, shared
services, finance process effectiveness and efficiency, program management and
Shared Services: Engagement Partner on a shared services assessment and
implementation for a global manufacturer of specialty pharmaceuticals. The assessment included development of a
program plan detailing the key activities across the outbound and inbound work
streams, detailed location analysis and business case, business readiness and
communications plan and high level service delivery model and shared service
center (SSC) governance structure. The
implementation phase included managing a team across multiple regions in order
to establish two shared service centers (Hyderabad, India and Budapest,
Hungary) and moving current in-country Finance, IT and HR processes to the new
Transformation:Project manager on a finance transformation assessment
for a global industrial products company, whose objective was to transform and
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their finance operating structure
and to achieve cost reduction.
Assessment included providing client with a foundational understanding
of its global (North America, Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific) finance
organization costs and performance relative to external benchmarks, identifying
specific areas of opportunity for the finance function, recommendation of a new
operating and service delivery model, and development of an implementation
roadmap and business case for transformation.
The assessment resulted in a new operating model design that included
high-level service delivery recommendations (e.g. opportunities to leverage
shared services), technology enhancements and process design/control changes
for all finance process areas.
Shared Services:Project manager on a Finance shared services impact
assessment for a $10 billion producer of food products, as part of a larger
global SAP project. Developed a delivery
model for a European Shared Service Center (SSC). Impact Assessment included identifying future
state process flows, work products, key handoffs, work division matrices and
operational model. The team also
assessed regionally-based versus global Shared Services, and made recommendations
for the European SSC including organization design options, roles and
Shared Services: Project Manager for an Order to Cash (OTC) Shared
Services Assessment for a $15B Consumer Products Goods Company. Developed material and facilitated global
workshops to identify processes within the OTC function which could be migrated
into the clients Finance Shared Services Center in Warsaw, Poland. Alternative migration strategies were
developed along with finance transformation requirements necessary to
facilitate the migration.
Shared Services: Managed a Shared Services Center initiative for a
global chemical company that encompassed development of plan to offshore back
office finance functions into a captive SSC. The project had the following
objectives: provide business shared
services for financial controlling and accounting, reduce cost (approx. 25%) by
consolidating a critical processes, improve business performance by optimized
processes, centrally support business units based in North America, European
& Asian countries, and reduce locations for control environment.
Statement Close Redesign: Managed a month-end financial close project
with the objective of shortening the close time from 27 days to 5 days. The project included documentation of the
current close processes, developing a future state-closing and consolidating
calendar (based on leading practices), performing a gap analysis and defining
and implementing process improvements and consolidations for 19 separate
accounting centers located in 14 countries.
