As the leader of Cargill Business Services (CBS), Kim Skanson leads the company’s global shared service organization, which enables delivery of IT, HR, Finance, Transportation & Logistics, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Ocean Transportation, and Trade Execution services to Cargill businesses around the world. CBS is part of the company’s Office of Transformation.
Outside of work, Kim is an active leader in the community, serving at numerous non-profit organizations, including as board member for the Park Nicollet Foundation. Kim also is a champion for STEM education and opportunities for women and children, and has served as a board member and advisor for Women Leading in Technology and Code Savvy.
Kim has more than two decades of IT experience at Fortune 50 companies. Before being named CBS Leader, she was the vice president and Global IT Infrastructure lead and accountable for day-to-day IT operations. In this role, she was also a key leader in the transition of IT infrastructure to a managed services provider. She has worked across the IT spectrum during her career, from vendor management and merger/acquisition capabilities to running infrastructure, support and delivery capabilities.
Kim joined Cargill in 2014 from Target Corporation, where she worked to transform the enterprise architecture capability, among other strategic initiatives. She began her career as an engineer at Travelers, where she held various positions while in Financial Services and was pivotal in helping define the company’s customer relationship management strategy.
Kim has a Bachelor of Arts in Management, Magna Cum Laude, from St. John’s University/College of St. Benedict and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Kim and her husband, Cisco, have three sons, Tanner, Sawyer, and Ryder. Outside of work, Kim enjoys yoga, hockey, and cheering on her boys at their sporting and other extra-curricular activities.
