G6 North America 2013: Phil Searle on what you need to know about talent management

Posted: 04/25/2013

"Hire for attitude, train for skill" – that's the message Phil Searle, a veteran of the shared services industry, has for you. With only a fraction of BPO and IT services currently operating under the shared services umbrella, Phil says the excess capacity is waiting to be snapped up by savvy shared services teams. What's slowing developments down is the lack of change management skill and understanding – and the latter is stalling at the C-suite level. Although there are huge opportunities ahead, it's up to shared services leaders and their teams to make a convincing case for broadening and deepening the scope of services offered.

A tip: companies should be investing more in research, to answer the "What's in it for me?" question.
