Innovation is a much mis-understood term, although it is much talked about. Crucially, the buy side should be ensuring that their definition of innovation aligns with that of the provider side. Otherwise there is an expectation mismatch. The more progressive firms define innovation in terms of product-, process-, or cost-led innovation, thereby enabling the provider to play their role in delivering on expectations.
