Dr. Sumit Mitra

Sumit is a strategic thinker experienced in leading organisations to achieve business turnaround by building and executing business change through people, process and digital transformation plans to drive a multitude of organisation benefits.
 
Sumit is currently the Chief Executive Officer for Tesco PLC’s Global Business Solutions division which was awarded as World’s no1 GBS by Shared Service and Outsourcing network (SSON) in 2023. He is also a board member of Tesco’s joint venture Trent Hypermarkets with the Tata Group.
 
Before joining Tesco, Sumit was the Managing Director of British Telecom (BT) where he conceptualised and executed BT’s global business services (GBS) model with direct responsibility for 11000 plus employees across nine locations and several 3rd party vendors.
 
He has won various awards including CEO of the year in India, "BPM Achiever in Global India" Amity University’s “Corporate leadership excellence award 2023” and BT “Hero award”.
 
A passionate sportsman, Sumit also holds a cricket coaching diploma from the England & Wales Cricket Board and is also a blackbelt in martial arts. He is an ardent Manchester United supporter, loves travelling and enjoys spending time with his two daughters.
