Last week, the Nobel Prize for Physiology / Medicine was awarded to three scientists (Americans James E. Rothman and Randy W. Schekman and German Thomas C. Sudhof were) who discovered the mystery of how the cell organizes its transport system – effectively: the molecular principles that govern how a cell’s cargo is delivered to the right place at the right time. When this process is disrupted, disease and disorder results. Sound familiar?
