Infosys to acquire automation technology provider Panaya for $200 mn In line with the strategy laid out by its Chief Executive and Managing Director Vishal Sikka, Infosys on Monday said it would buy Panaya, which provides automation technology, in an all-cash deal of $200 million UNICEF and Hungary announce agreement in principle to establish new UNICEF Global Services Centre in Budapest The Government of Hungary and UNICEF announced that they have agreed in principle to establish UNICEF’s first-ever Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest. The new centre will conduct a broad range of UNICEF’s financial and human resources operations worldwide, enabling the children’s organization to realize greater efficiencies and cost savings. February 16th, 2015 United Airlines Reaches Tentative Agreement With Unions over Outsourcing Jobs It was reported that one of the largest airline companies in the country United Airlines had reached a tentative agreement with the trade unions to outsource close to 1,150 airport jobs and keeping close to 800 positions with itself. UK's tech outsourcing up 15% last year According to the report, the UK's outsourcing market was worth £6.65bn in 2014, with £3.1bn of contracts agreed business process outsourcing (BPO) deals. Contracts worth £109m were agreed representing a mix of ITO and BPO arrangements. February 12th, 2015 BelAZ to set up outsourcing companies in CIS, Asia, Latin America, Africa While The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ, the managing company of BelAZ Holding, has plans to set up joint outsourcing companies in the countries of the CIS, Asia, Latin America, and Africa in 2015, BelTA learned from the enterprise. Zetta Venture Partners Closes $60M Fund to Back Data-Analytics Startups Zetta is investing in startups specializing in the emerging field of data analytics and announced its first eight investments. The firm is aiming to invest in about 20 industrial and enterprise analytics companies. RPOs integral to half of multi-service HR outsourcing contracts Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) was integral to 50% of multi-service HR outsourcing contracts in 2014, according to business process outsourcing provider arvato’s UK outsourcing index. February 10th, 2015 Britain could lead a robotic revolution with cost savings of 16 per cent by 2025 While global average cost savings from the use of robots is expected to be around 16 per cent by 2025, Britain’s fast adoption is expected to push savings nearer to 21 per cent, according to a report out today on the global impact of robotics from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Obama Pushes for Greater Intel Sharing in New Strategy The IC ITE, lays the vision for an integrated intelligence enterprise throughout the IC’s 17 agencies. In essence, IC ITE changes the business model for intelligence agencies by mandating shared services. Procurement to help deliver £70 million savings in BT/EE merger deal BT said consolidating sales and marketing operations and procurement efficiencies would generate the savings, while insourcing will contribute to further savings of £90 million in IT and £80 million of efficiencies from network integration. February 6th, 2015 IBM signs nine year IT outsourcing deal with Birla Sun Life Insurance IBM has announced that Birla Sun Life Insurance (BSLI), the life insurance arm of the Aditya Birla Financial Services Group, signed a nine year IT outsourcing deal with IBM to consolidate, redesign in-scope applications and use analytics to provide client insights that build competitive advantage. Infosys to provide outsourcing services to Dutch insurance company Infosys BPO today said it has secured an IT services deal with Dutch insurance services firm a.s.r. for supporting back-office operations. Guavus Expands Leadership Team to Meet Growing Demand for Big Data Analytic Solutions Guavus, Inc., a leading provider of big data analytics solutions for operational intelligence, today announced that Gabriele Di Piazza has joined as Senior Vice President, Marketing and David Nicholas has joined as Senior Vice President Sales, Cable & Media. February 5th, 2015 Cloudera acquires Xplain.io to accelerate adoption of self-service analytics Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop, announced it has acquired Xplain.io, an innovator in self-service analytics. Xplain.io’s product, "Big Data Integration Service", automates the design, integration, and optimization of data models that use SQL, NoSQL, and NewSQL technologies. Cisco expects to ‘connect the disconnected’ in 2015 Cisco likes to draw a distinction between IoE and the Internet of Everything (IoT), seeing IoE as the next evolution of the Internet, that is, a network connection of people, process, data and things. In contrast, IoT only focuses on ‘things’ or devices. February 3nd, 2015 Wal-Mart’s new Fort Mill shared services center could employ more than 100 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it has picked Fort Mill for a new shared services center, a temporary operation designed to bolster the company’s ongoing efforts to streamline its financial and payroll processes. Richmond and Wandsworth agree shared services deal The idea is that the new arrangement should be in place by March 2017 and that it would deliver annual savings for each authority of up to £10 million. Tungsten offers finance to over 21,000 UK companies Tungsten Corporation is helping to finance UK companies by providing them with access to cash. "Many SMEs are facing serious cash flow problems as some of their customers elect to manage their own working capital by extending invoice payment dates," said Edmund Truell, Tungsten Group CEO. February 2nd, 2015 ICL inaugurated its European HQ and Shared Services Center in the Netherlands over the weekend. The company plans to invest $452 million for 50% ownership of a joint venture that will operate a fully integrated, phosphate business in China. Israel Chemicals will also take a 15% strategic holding in Yunnan Yuntianhua, one of Asia's leading producers of phosphate rock. Kinetic IT wins $160 million deal with Vic Police Perth-headquartered Kinetic IT has won a landmark IT services outsourcing contract with Victoria Police worth at least $164 million. Kinetic replaces IBM and Fujitsu as the police force’s single IT services partner in the five-year contract, which commences on July 2015. ISG Index: 2014 One of Best Years Ever for Asia Pacific The Asia Pacific ISG Outsourcing Index, which measures commercial outsourcing contracts with an annual contract value (ACV) of US$5 million or more, reported total ACV of US$3 billion, up 45 percent from the prior year.
