WHAT MAKES A WINNER?

Last month the SSON announced the winners of our annual Shared Services & Outsourcing Excellence Awards for the Americas. We are delighted to bring you the winning applications in this month’s Roundup! Find out what it takes to succeed and benchmark your own operations against those of the best. And next year... It might be you!

Best New Captive Services Delivery: The Charmer Sunbelt Group. Having started as a purely F&A-oriented services, Charmer Sunbelt’s SSO mandate was quickly rolled out to an increased scope. What really stood out was its use technology.

Best Mature Outsourced Services Delivery: Accenture BPO and client Microsoft. Outsourcing is tough to do well, but it is really diffi cult to do phenomenally. For an example of a services provider that not only passed the test but "aced" it, according to the judges, look no further. This services delivery collaboration spans the globe, touching almost 100 countries; covers multiple processes; and is based on a clear vision.

Best Mature Captive Services Delivery: HP Global Business Services Guadalajara, Mexico. This center has taken customer service to a diff erent level altogether, achieving 4.3 out of 5 marks. Center staff speak not only with BU clients but also with HP’s end-users. And most impressive: they’ve realized that what truly counts for customers is a measure of "yield" impact in the customer’s processes.

Best New Outsourced Services Delivery: McClatchy/Infosys. The challenge to this group lay in the fact that its business units are widely dispersed and very independent. Infosys is pioneering the "newspaper in a box," an innovative solution that is working for McClatchy.

Thought Leadership Award: Paul Bartley, Director of Program Support Center, U.S. Department of Health & Human Resources. What Paul has achieved would be impressive in any scenario, but to achieve so much within a Federal Government Agency makes his results all the more awe-inspiring. Paul leads with a clear mandate for growth, he has bravely incorporated best practices from the private sector in a heavily regulated government environment, and he has made measurement of value through metrics a cornerstone of his center. Truly a leader in our field...
