Watch out…we are growing……!

So much has been happening in the last two weeks it’s difficult to know where to start, but to kick this blog off we have some good news: Our plans of whole floor domination are bearing fruit and, due to the resource required for the Somerfield integration, we have managed to get more space!

This is an exciting time for the centre, allowing us to re-plan and re-locate our teams, and manage storage better. Hopefully, moving forward, we can then embed our "office tidy and clear desk" policies, and make the working environment more pleasant for everyone.

In the previous blog I started to talk about our four "Focus areas" and how the plans are coming together with the owners of these areas. We are now ramping up the more detailed planning phase and identifying resource requirements, interdependencies and risks. This is all moving very quickly and there is a lot to think about if we are going to deliver in the 6 month timeframe.

One piece of good news to come out of this is that there is a vitally important kick-off night out to look forward to for the workstream, (obviously) lead by the infamous Matt Chadwick (who incidentally is running a half marathon on Sunday. Tune in next time to see if they have found the body)…

By the end of next week we are hoping to have all the detailed plans in place and be ready for action – then we will move towards being a more effective, stable, reputable, and customer-centric operation, in order to support the enlarging co-op and reflect back the collectiveness this entails.

Back on the floor, it has been noted -- on the radar -- of late that some of the standards have been slipping in terms of our "office tidy" policy. This is something I feel very strongly about. I am firmly of the belief that a tidy office is an efficient office. It is difficult, as you all may know, to get the balance right between allowing a degree of freedom and flexibility in the way people work and allowing untidiness to become a habit! I will let you know if I come up with a fool proof way to redress this balance…

I’ll close this blog with the news of two further appointments in the centre: Abi & Alycia have been successful in landing senior administrator roles. Well done! There, see? We are growing!
