Some interesting news items dropped into my email this morning and I thought it worth summarizing them for your benefit. The growth of the healthcare BPO supports the increased "verticalization" we've seen over the past two years, and it is expected that providers wil increasingly segment their offerings to offer standardized, but tailored services specific to industries. The Philippines is obviously banking big on healthcare! And while NASSCOM has set India's IT BPO growth at the bottom of the 11-14% range, it's still in double digits so let's not get too disappointed about that. We recently ran an online campaign for BPeSA (Business Process enabling South Africa) which highlighted many of the good things happening in that region. Great to see WNS step up and be recognized for some of the excellent work they are delivering from Cape Town. Also: Everest Group is reporting on global banking BPO providers - TCS and Genpact are leading in the 75th percentile - congratulations to them. In more detail: The Philippines: Healthcare BPO expected to get to $1billion by 2016 the healthcare BPO sector is one of the fastest growing industries in the Philippines, according to the healthcare information management outsourcing Association. Last year, revenues more than doubled the previous year to $277 million. This year the number is expected to hit $433 million. In order to sustain growth and hit these targets it has set itself, HIMOAP is partnering with the Department of science and technology information and communications office. IT BPO sector in India set to grow 11% in 2012–13 The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has announced the IT and BPO sector would meet the lower end of its growth expectation for this financial year, owing to currency volatility, low growth for global in-house centers and differentiated growth for various players.?Nasscom had given a growth guidance of 11-14% at the beginning of this year, but has now settled on 11% and revenue of $75-77 billion. The estimates are based on an analysis of Indian listed companies, multinationals, global in-house center ofs and various industry sectors such as IT services, BPOs, engineering, research & development and products. Genpact and TCS named "leaders" in Everest Group global banking BPO report Genpact Limited and TCS, global leaders in business process management and technology services, were named "Leaders" (75th percentile) in Everest Group’s 2011 annual Global Banking BPO Market Report. As part of this research, 12 global banking BPO providers were assessed on Everest’s Performance, Experience, Ability, Knowledge (PEAK) Matrix – a proprietary framework that provides a data-driven assessment based on providers’ success and delivery capability. Full report: http://research.everestgrp.com/Product/11829 WNS South Africa captures four BPeSA Awards WNS South Africa (formerly Fusion Outsourcing), a leading provider of BPO services, received four prestigious awards at the 2012 BPeSA Western Cape Awards held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Saturday, 10 November 2012. BPeSA (Business Process enabling South Africa) Western Cape is the official Trade and Investment body for the BPO/contact centre industry in the Western Cape. WNS South Africa won the "Best Outsourced Contact Centre" award, along with an award for "Community Spirit". Individual WNS winners included Marc Crawford, Senior Group Manager - IT, for "Best Support Service Individual", and Karen van der Merwe, Senior Group Manager - Operations, for "Manager of the Year". Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. credits Shared Services with savings of $19million so far this year Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. announced results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2012, crediting its shared services agreement with Momentive Performance Materials Inc. with saving approximately $19 million in cost over the first 9 months of 2012, and bringing the total cumulative savings to $49 million since the program was initiated in late 2010. The company also identified $30 million of additional MSC savings from both the shared services agreement and cost reduction initiatives it expects to achieve over the next 12 to 15 months as it further optimizes its manufacturing footprint and enhances its cost structure. HHS commodity consolidation launched with HR systems The Department of Health and Human Services will be moving its HR system to a federal shared service provider. The driver behind this move, expains HHS chief information officer, Frank Baitman, is to focus efforts away from areas the HHS has little expertise in, and towards mission-critical functions of the agency. The goal is to create a One-HHS around certain non-mission critical IT functions, such as human resources or email. Full story [inlinead]
