September 30, 2014 Tungsten wins e-invoicing deal with Siemens Tungsten Corporation PLC announced this morning that the German electrical engineering giant, Siemens, have selected them to provide e-invoicing services that will automate transactions to their global business and suppliers. Oasis Outsourcing Opens Minneapolis Office Oasis Outsourcing, one of the nation's leading Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), is pleased to announce that it has opened an office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, located at 860 Blue Gentian Road, Suite 200. Pharma Outsourcing Driving Need for Cloud-Based Services As demand shifts from high-margin branded drugs in Western regions to low-margin generics in emerging markets, successful bio/pharmaceutical companies are adopting new business models that include significantly more outsourcing and require a deeper understanding of costs all along the value chain. September 19, 2014 Bangladesh jumps into Top 50 List for IT outsourcing destinations Bangladesh has been recognised by a US company as the 26th best destination for IT outsourcing globally. AT Kearney, a leading management consultancy firm with offices in more than 40 countries, has for the first time included Bangladesh in its Top 50 Global Services Location Index. Tech outsourcing firm HCL adding 1,237 jobs in Cary, NC HCL Technologies will add some 1,237 jobs at its operations in Cary after signing an agreement with the state of North Carolina to includes nearly $20 million in tax incentives and grant money. Wipro, Infosys enter list of top 5 Indian BPOs The Indian business process management (BPM) industry has seen a rejig with Wipro and Infosys entering the top five positions in 2013-14, according to Nasscom, the industry body for IT-BPM. Nasscom sees value proposition for BPO firms in Tier-II and-III cities Nasscom believes that for the BPO sector to keep its growth trajectory, corporates should go to Tier-II and-III. But a cross section of the industry believes that this may not be feasible. September 17, 2014 Indian BPO sector picking up again, according to WNS The Indian BPO sector, worth around $20 billion, contributes one-sixth of the IT sector. But the sector seems to have slowed down in the last few years as competition from other countries, like The Philippines, picks up. However, Keshav Murugesh, Group CEO of WNS, believes that the past is behind it and that the sector is changing. The evolution to Business Process Management (BPM), he says, is a reflection of this. Outsourcing Firm Cognizant to Buy TriZetto for $2.7 Billion Cognizant Technology Solutions said on Monday that it had agreed to buy the health care information technology company TriZetto Corporation for $2.7 billion in cash. Cognizant, a large outsourcing firm, will acquire a majority stake from funds managed by the private equity firm Apax Partners, as well as stakes from minority investors, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Cambia Health Solutions. The Apax funds acquired their stake in the company in 2008. Tata's To Merge Tata Business Support Services With e-Nxt Financials Tata’s are merging two of their group companies to create one of the top four companies in the domestic BPO space. In what may be called the largest merger in the space, Hyderabad-based Tata BSS Ltd (TBSS) with over 10,000 employees, will merge with e-Nxt Financials which employs 7,500 employees. September 15, 2014 TCS opens Saudi Arabia's first all-woman BPO centre India's largest software exporter TCSBSE -1.81 % today said it has opened Saudi Arabia's first all-female business process centre, which will provide employment to up to 3,000 women in three years. Saudi Aramco and GE are the centre's first customers, TCS said in a statement. E-commerce boom offers a lifeline for Indian listless BPO units India's business process outsourcing industry looks set to get its buzz back, as a pickup in the country's e-commerce industry and increased focus on citizen services by the government creates new avenues for BPO players. Until now, the domestic BPO industry was dependent on telecom clients and bore the brunt of the slowdown as the telecom operators pushed BPO companies for increased cost savings. Indian IT companies battle it out for Rs 11k-cr Australian pie Indian IT companies will be fiercely competing with MNCs for five big IT contracts in Australia valued at over A$2 billion (Rs 11,000 crore). What impact could Scottish Independence have on outsourcing? If the majority of voters check the ‘Yes’ box on this hotly anticipated day, it goes without saying that any UK businesses holding operations in Scotland are set to become severely affected by the many changes that will take place. Should Scotland receive independence, benefits and taxes, for example, will become the responsibility of the new Scottish government, and this potentially creates a whole new set of tax compliance issues for ‘international’ companies active in the region. For outsourcing companies in particular, the question of Scottish independence is incredibly contentious. September 5, 2014 Basware And MasterCard Launch An Automated Supply Chain Finance Platform Basware has the largest electronic invoicing network in the world — one million organizations generating 80 million transactions a year, worth $500 billion, and growing at 50 percent annually. MasterCard MA +0.58% has one of the largest payment networks, and it is fully global. They’ve joined forces and created Basware Pay. Basware, Arrowgrass to develop e-invoicing based factoring service Finnish e-procurement and e-invoicing software company Basware and Arrowgrass Capital Partners (Arrowgrass) have signed a Letter of Intent agreement. Under this Letter of Intent deal, the parties have agreed to jointly develop a new e-invoicing based factoring service, dubbed Basware Factoring. The Letter of Intent outlines the cooperation to jointly develop, resource and maintain the new service, and the establishment of a jointly owned entity to manage it. Wipro bags $35-million IT outsourcing contract from Philip Morris Wipro has won a $35-million IT outsourcing contract from Philip Morris International (PMI), the world's biggest tobacco company.
