The Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON) recently launched its North American Shared Services & Outsourcing Week campaign, naming Dell, KPMG, WNS and Serco amongst its partners for 2014. This blend of new and returning partners is a reflection of the event’s revamped layout and its new home at the Disney Contemporary Resort in Orlando – all part of major developments to increase the show’s audience reach, whilst remaining a ‘community’ for GBS leaders. Although the Shared Services & Outsourcing Week maintains its traditional stance as a meeting place for SS&O practitioners, analyst firms and industry leaders, its platform this year has been noticeably altered to extend its reach to accommodate small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and to further encourage learning by attendee function, company vertical and SSC maturity.

"Shared Services & Outsourcing Week is where we see the trends happening and momentum in shared services operations. It helps us understand where the trends are going and more importantly, where they’re not going," said Scott DeMent, Partner, ScottMadden in an interview during the 2013 event.

Complementing the high-profile presentations and debates - including a new Big Ideas session by the former Creative Director of Apple, Ken Segall as well as the G6 Visionaries On-Stage Interviews - the event increases its number of site tours and introduces the Functional Focus Groups, dedicated to HR, Procurement, Finance & Accounting and Global Business Services.

Already confirmed speakers are Global Heads, SVPs and Directors from companies including Eli Lilly, Office Depot, Intel, American Express, AOL, Biogen, GNC, Halliburton, Levi’s, Volvo, UBS and Caesar’s Entertainment. Further event partners are long-time partners ScottMadden, Apex Analytix, Everest Group, HP, WNS and Trintech amongst others.

All of this goes hand in hand with the purpose of the show, which is to maintain the SS&O network and increase its connections whilst elevating the industry as a whole through intelligence and information-sharing. On the event website, it is published that in 2013 57% of its attendees were new to the show, and that amongst their priorities were Benchmarking, Roadmapping & Operational Structure Diagnostics.
