What's as Exciting as Shark Week but Less Scary? Digi-Week APAC

This week on Monday, SSON was delighted to welcome over 600 members from across Asia-Pacific to join its 2nd Annual “Digi-Week APAC” event – absolutely free. This event follows on from Shared Services and Outsourcing Week Asia, which took place in Singapore earlier this month, choosing some of the most popular sessions from that conference and adding new thought leadership, technical insights, and case studies.

If you weren't able to join yesterday’s session live, here's a summary of what you missed. And remember, if you register for free now you can get on-demand links to watch at your convenience for any of the sessions!

Session 1 – Are You Using Metrics to Best Eeffect? Game-changing tips to truly capitalise on benchmarking data. Plus: One of the “Top 20 Most Admired SSOs” shares metrics

Panelists:
Syazana Lim, Research Analyst, SSON Analytics
Barbara Hodge, Global Editor, SSON
Eric P. Riego de Dios, Director, Global Talent, Baker and McKenzie Global Services Manila, Inc. (Top 20 Most Admired SSO and SSON Excellence Award Winner)

Highlights: This session provided some outcomes & analysis from SSON’s survey data and highlighted some of the early findings of this year’s survey. In addition, it showcased key metrics from SSON Analytics’ City Cube, and some of the talent-centric measures most commonly tracked, for both the APAC region and the Philippines specifically, where panelist Eric Riego de Dios is based.

Eric and Rochelle added practitioner perspectives and real-world examples to make the benchmark metrics discussed here come to life. Excellent specific details and openness on practices shared by Eric, who also explained how he leverages the City Cube to make decisions on where to move work /deliver services across Baker and McKenzie’s global SSCs.

Session 2 – Turning Travel Analytics into Business Intelligence

Panelists:
Carl Jones, Head of Travel, APAC & Greater China, SAP Concur
Leonore Bottin, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Asia, SAP Concur

Highlights: This session leveraged the speakers’ 10+ years of experience in corporate travel management so the content was very much from the context of a real practitioner’s viewpoint. Excellent examples of metrics and direct use case for spend analytics. There was also a nice intro to an AI enabled tool that has been released in the US and will be coming to APAC in 2019.

Session 3 – Mirror on the Wall: Enabling Transformation & Driving an Innovation Mindset; Fireside Chat with Amit Kalra, Swiss Re.

Highlights: Cool example of technology approach (internal hackathon and use of start-up tech companies to build an industry specific tool and agile approach to development) coupled with the fact that the culture needs to evolve to a digital mindset to get any value out of technology. Effective parallels with how the re-insurance enterprise industry is driving these changes. Great story from an organisation that has been active in sharing best practices across the SSON, and an Award winner in the past.
