Philippines: Tabuk City: DTI approves 54 proposals under its Shared Services Facility project in CAR Tabuk City’s (province of Kalinga, Philippines) Department of Trade and Industry has approved 54 project proposals from various organized sectors in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) under its Shared Services Facility (SSF) project; 15 more are awaiting approval pending the submission of additional requirements. The SSF is a strategic complementary project that intends to balance off existing efforts/programs such as the National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Project (NICCEP) to achieve inclusive growth as envisioned by the current administration. It entails the setting up of common service facilities or production centers for certain processes to give micro, small and medium enterprises access to better technology and more sophisticated equipment to accelerate their bid for competitiveness and help them graduate to a next level where they could tap a better and wider market and be integrated in the global supply chain. Full story UK: Barnet's 'easyCouncil' faces judicial review over outsourcing The UK’s "easyCouncil" model of no-frills local services is set to go on trial this spring after the High Court announced it will review a £320m services contract due to be outsourced by the London Borough of Barnet. The judicial review of the legality of the contract means the signing of the deal, which was supposed to happen at the end of January, has been delayed. Capita was to take over services in April – just ten days after the hearing is expected to conclude in late March. In its TPI Index, which records deals worth at least €4m, the value of European IT outsourcing deals in 2012 was €5.1bn, down from to €7bn in 2010.
