"Malaysia ranks among the top 3 countries in the world in terms of global sourcing of services. The SSO sector will continue to flourish in Asia-Pacific, and especially in Malaysia, as businesses consider alternate locations for service and business delivery, given the increase in acceptance of offshore delivery and scarcity of skill sets in certain markets." - Datuk Dr. Subramaniam, Minister of Human Resource, Malaysia.

The Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) is once again delighted to announce MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation) as partners and keynote speakers for the second edition of the Shared Services and Outsourcing Malaysia Summit!

Following the very successful launch event last year, this year’s summit, which will be held on 19-21 May 2014, will delve into creating a center of excellence, robust governance and technology transformation allowing you to maintain cost efficiencies and implement metrics that will propel your SSC forward. The event is tailored specifically for those leading shared or business services in the region, as well as consultants, outsourcing and solution providers in the local Malaysian market.

"MDeC’s ongoing support for the event demonstrates just how much potential for growth and development there is within the Malaysian SSO Industry and will provide fantastic insight into future plans within this space for the country" says Sally Fletcher, Divisional Director Asia, SSON

The Shared Services and Outsourcing industry in MSC Malaysia continues to grow as its appeal as an outsourcing destination is becoming more globally recognized. Malaysia’s talent pool and sophisticated infrastructure is attracting those new to offshoring with mid-sized demand that have a lower risk appetite and want a boutique experience. Thus, they are willing to pay a risk premium to avail themselves of differential advantages that Malaysia offers including multi-lingual capabilities, strategic geographic location and strong support from organisations involved in the development of the sector, including MDeC.

The SSO industry has been an important part of Malaysia’s ICT-led transformation into a high-income, knowledge-based economy. At present, there are over 300 MSC Malaysia Status SSO companies made up of major local players and multinationals who have set up operations in Malaysia, supporting various local and international services including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO).

The Shared Services and Outsourcing industry in MSC Malaysia had remarkable growth in 2012, with RM10.4 billion in revenue, a 14% jump from 2011, and a contribution of RM5.8 billion to the nation’s GDP in 2012, up 32% from 2011. It also saw a whopping 57% increase in new job creation with over 7,300 new jobs created in 2012, bringing the cumulative number of jobs to 65,800 since MSC Malaysia’s inception in 1996.

Michael Warren, Vice President of the Shared Services & Outsourcing Cluster at MDeC said "The Shared Services and Outsourcing cluster’s performance is a mark of the great strides that Malaysia continues to make in the SSO industry. MDeC, as the pioneering force in getting Malaysia’s SSO industry of the ground, is now moving the industry up the value chain by concentrating on high value KPO services, keeping in line with Malaysia’s transformation into a sustainable, highly-competitive, high-value and high-income developed nation by 2020. We are happy to continue our partnership with SSON for their 2nd Shared Services & Outsourcing Malaysia event to further elevate Malaysia’s position as a global hub for SSO".
