How to Determine the Optimal Shared Services Model for your Organization?

Biswajit Dasgupta, who cut his teeth at Siemens’ SSO, explains the various pros and cons of the four main operating models that apply to Shared Services. Each model is driven and supported by different people, which can be a significant factor. GBS is a rare occurrence, he explains. In fact, there are good reasons for why GBS is NOT necessarily the optimum target model. In Siemens’ case, for example, a functional model drove more value than a GBS model.

He also talks about who owns the vast majority of functional activities – and what this means to transitioning service. (Also: a warning about making exceptions…)
