The SSON's G6 panel has become an industry benchmark for trends and opinions. You, the practitioners, vote in your 'preferred' providers and we invite them onto the stage to be grilled by a moderator. This year, as last, the discussion here in Australia was moderated by Dr. Martin Fahy of the Hackett Group. He was undeterred by the combined clout of the G6 he faced on stage, and gamely pushed them to speak on talent management, leadership development, budgets, salary increases, and more.

Watch the debate here.

The Cloud phenomenon – how important is it to you? Not very! – judging by a pulse-check of the room during the G6 Australia debate. 65% of delegates say they think cloud is either a "passing fad" or they have "no clue" as to it’s value – a number Asheesh Mehra interprets as meaning people are simply uninformed. The Cloud is enabling the mid-tier market, offering access to best-in-class technology otherwise out of reach. In fact, Cloud technology has been in use for over 20 years. We need to look beyond the hype of the name, at the incredible value of the technology. Click to watch interview

Raja Venkateswar of Xchanging speaks to Emma Beaumont after the G6 Panel

Today’s talent management – especially in such a hot market as India’s – is a challenge. It’s all about 1. Enabling, 2. Empowering, and 3. Envisioning, says Raja Venkateswar. Generation Y obviously has different expectations and smart centers need to cater to these, he warns. High attrition rates are not in themselves a problem – they bring in new talent. But you need to empower teams to deliver. Click to watch interview

G6 Interview with Peter Barta, Principal – Consulting, Deloitte

Emma Beaumont of SSON speaks to Peter Barta of Deloitte during SSOW Australia 2011

With today’s trend of moving from transaction to knowledge-based services – and offshoring or even outsourcing these services, there is a need to evolve the relationship models between providers and the customer.

The degree of intimacy between the business and the provider is much closer in knowledge support, which requires a better understanding of the business. Outsourcing becomes a less attractive option, says Peter Barta. Click to watch interview
