Social media has become a powerful tool for shared services professionals to network, knowledge share, and recruit new talent. While many in the industry utilize LinkedIn as their main hub for business networking, there are several social media sites, including the recently launched Threads, that can also be assets to professionals looking to gain new skills, seek new opportunities, and much more. 
 
The following is a list of social media websites that are useful to shared service professionals to collaborate with coworkers internally or gain knowledge and insights from external sources.  
 
Threads

Threads is the latest social media app that shared service professionals can potentially leverage. The app is a new text-based app developed by the Instagram team. 
 
For shared services organizations, Threads can be an opportunity to strengthen both the employee and customer experience. Threads is built with tools to enable positive, productive conversations. You can control who can mention you or reply to your threads. Like on Instagram, you can add hidden words to filter out replies to your threads that contain specific words. 

Facebook
 
Facebook is a versatile social media platform that offers a wide range of features. It can be used in shared services for communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among team members. Groups and pages can be created to facilitate discussions and share important updates. However, privacy concerns have been raised about Facebook, so it's important to establish clear guidelines and settings to protect sensitive information. 
 
LinkedIn
 
LinkedIn is a professional networking platform that can be valuable in shared services for building connections with colleagues, industry professionals, and potential partners. It allows users to showcase their expertise, share industry insights, and collaborate on projects. LinkedIn's focus on professional networking makes it suitable for professional development within shared service teams. 
 
Slack
 
While Slack is primarily a team collaboration tool, it has some social media-like features that can be useful in shared services. It offers channels for different topics, direct messaging, and the ability to share files and integrate with other tools. Slack's real-time communication capabilities can enhance teamwork and facilitate quick information exchange within shared service teams.
